Falling Through the Cracks: Wrongful Conviction in Minnesota examines wrongful convictions and the school / cradle-to-prison pipeline in the North Star State. Following the life stories and legal cases of two Black men that were wrongfully convicted, Adrian Riley in 1995 and Mahdi Ali in 2011, both for triple homicides we believe they did not commit. We will examine how race and class impacts the trajectory of someone's life from birth until death. We will briefly contrast Adrian and Mahdi's experiences growing up in Minneapolis with the host Nic's experience growing up in rural Minnesota.

In episode 3, Adrian Riley, his mother mary, his cousin Dianne, Nic (host of podcast) and DJ Hooker (host of KFAI's show Views from the Ground) meet live in studio to discuss Adrian's clemency hearing. This episode was recorded live on air at KFAI on Wednesday, 3/25/2026. Adrian's clemency hearing was held 4/3/2026 and the board voted to commute his three *consecutive* life sentences to three *concurrent* life sentences.
